Manitoba Small Claims Court Registry Locations
Where to File a Small Claim in Manitoba
Small claims in Manitoba are filed at a Court of King's Bench registry. Because electronic filing is not accepted for small claims matters, you must either deliver paper forms in person at a registry counter or mail them to a registry office.
Small Claims can be filed at various court centres in Manitoba. The general rule is that the claim should be heard at the court centre or circuit location nearest to where the defendant lives or where the dispute happened. Filing and hearing addresses differ for some circuit locations, so check the current Manitoba Courts locations list before filing or travelling.
Court Centres
The current court list includes Brandon, Dauphin, Flin Flon, Minnedosa, Morden, Portage la Prairie, St. Boniface, Selkirk, Steinbach, Swan River, The Pas, Thompson, and Winnipeg. The sections below give selected addresses; the official locations list has all current filing and hearing details.
Winnipeg
Winnipeg has two registry locations:
- Main filing counter: 100–408 York Avenue, Winnipeg, R3C 0P9 — this is the primary location for filing Form 76A and other small claims documents
- St. Boniface Centre: 100–614 Des Meurons Street, Winnipeg
Hearings in Winnipeg are conducted at the 3rd Floor, 373 Broadway, Winnipeg, R3C 4S4. This is separate from the filing counter — you file at York Avenue and attend hearings at Broadway (or virtually via teleconference and Microsoft Teams under the current virtual hearing protocol).
Brandon
Court House: 100–1104 Princess Avenue, Brandon, R7A 0P9
Brandon is a court centre for southwestern Manitoba. The current court list directs filings for Killarney and Virden circuit hearings to Brandon.
Dauphin
114 River Avenue West, Dauphin, R7N 0J7
Serves the Parklands region, including Roblin, Swan River, and surrounding communities.
The Pas
300–3rd Street East, The Pas, R9A 1L2
Serves the northern Manitoba region south of Thompson.
Thompson
59 Elizabeth Drive, Thompson, R8N 1X4
A court centre serving northern Manitoba.
Circuit Locations
The current Manitoba Courts list identifies Killarney, Russell, and Virden as circuit locations. It gives separate filing and hearing addresses for these locations.
For the three listed circuits, file in Brandon for a Killarney or Virden hearing, and in Minnedosa for a Russell hearing. Confirm the current filing address and hearing arrangements in the official court list.

Filing by Mail
If travelling to a registry is impractical, you can file by mail. Send the original Form 76A plus enough copies for the court and each defendant, along with your filing fee payment (cheque or money order payable to the Minister of Finance), to the correct filing address in the official court list.
Your filing date is the date the registry receives and stamps the documents — not the mailing date. If you are close to a limitation deadline, filing in person is safer.
Choosing the Right Registry
The general rule is that the claim should be heard at the court centre or circuit location nearest to where the defendant lives or where the dispute happened. Check with the court office if you are unsure which filing location serves that venue.
Practical considerations include:
- Where the defendant lives or does business — this makes service easier
- Where the dispute occurred — the court officer may be familiar with local businesses or conditions
- Where you want the hearing held — virtual hearings reduce the importance of location, but in-person hearings (when directed) happen at or near the filing registry
Contested hearings are generally conducted by Microsoft Teams unless the court officer directs an in-person hearing. Filing location still matters because the hearing venue follows the court's location rules.
